It is possible to develop and acquire leadership skills through self-awareness, personal improvement, and learning.

Introduction 

Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to "win" as a team ore an organization and it is dynamic, existing and inspiring. Some people believe leaders are born with the skills necessary to be leaders and others believe that leaders can be developed. There is no scientific data that shows people are "born leaders"  though possibly there are individual who have inherent skills for leadership. But undoubtedly those skills need to be cultivated. Either way whether you believe leaders are born or made those skill need to be fully developed to be successful and you need to work at being a good leader. The leadership skill can be acquired by self-awareness, personal improvement and learning.

Self-Awareness

Self-awareness affects the functionality of the brain. To be self-aware, you must actively think about your every action. This can be difficult at first but it is important to solving problems that negatively impact your leadership skills. The most important thins in self-awareness is identifying your strength and weakness. Ask your self whether your performance task is good or you need a improvement. You need to list out two things, your strength and your weakness. Take a good look at your strength and weakness. Work on to achieve your goal with the strength you have. And your weakness is the leadership skill that you have to be improved.
First, it is important to admit to yourself that you need help with the items on your list of weaknesses. Once you know you need improvement, work on setting short-term and long-term goals that will help turn your weakness int strengths. The short-term goal includes this that can be achieved less than one year. And long-term goal take more time to achieve normally its more than one year. If you are stuck or have no idea what you can do to improve a skill, ask for feedback and advice. If you have a role model in the workplace, ask he or she how they handle a problem you struggle with. More often than not, he or she will be more than willing to help you figure out a way you can fix the problem.
Don’t be afraid to ask your team members for their feedback as well. They may see weaknesses that you were not able to see on your own. Ask them for their suggestions. Once they realize that improving your leadership skills is beneficial to their success, they will provide you with constructive criticism to help you improve those unknown weaknesses. Self-awareness is a skill that a person must work on actively every day. Doing so ensures that while you are improving your weaknesses, your strengths remain strong. Every week, sit down to assess your goals from the previous week, add new goals, and check off those that you have achieved.

Personal improvement 

Leadership skills can play a large role in career development. Technical skills refer to the knowledge and expertise needed to accomplish complex actions, tasks and processes relating to computational and physical technology as well as a diverse group of other enterprises. Technical skills may only take you so far. To help you move forward in your career, you'll probably need soft skills, such as the ability to be a good leader.Therefore, leadership skills are considered important traits that can help you get to the top of your career field. Here a personal improvement that can be useful to be great leader.

Taking initiative: -  Mostly in the organization your manager will handover the task that are familiar or known to you. You need take more responsibility to or initiate to learn beyond your career position.  The more work you do more you learn.
Critical thinking: - To be hired for a high-profile job, you will need to be a critical thinker. Good leaders can foresee potential problems before they happen. They can also develop ways to prevent problems from happening.
Listen effectively: - Feedback is key. To listen effectively, you need to maintain eye contact, avoid distractions and respond appropriately. Keep in mind, communication is not just about verbal communication. Be aware of body language and gestures to determine what people are really saying.
Motivate others: - A true leader should positively influence people. When employees or coworkers lose their ambitions and passions, a true leader can energize and motivate them.
Discipline: - Discipline is required in order to execute the goal. Even if you have a vision or a good idea, it's useless without discipline. If you want to execute effectively, you need discipline
Consistent learning: - "Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other," said John F. Kennedy. When things are changing rapidly, it is important to constantly learn and challenge yourself.
Knowing how to delegate: - Delegate work to your employees and let them feel empowered. If you do this, they will feel more involved and have more opportunity to develop new skills. Delegating will allow you to concentrate on the goals you need to achieve yourself. 
Handling conflicts: - Leaders have to know how to handle difficult people and resolve conflicts. If an employee doesn't work to the best of his or her ability and brings a negative attitude to work, leaders have to step up and talk to that person in private.
Be a follow: -  Leaders learn new things consistently. Learn things that you didn't know from a person who specializes in that area is vital for development.
The bottom line: - "The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority," said Ken Blanchard. So to be great leader you have to think about the ways to influence others.

Learning 

The best path to becoming a good leader is to always keep learning new things. it keeps your mind sharp and your skills fresh. It primes you for new challenges that may come your way, which is always a goof thing in a leader. The more knowledge you get more confident you are and able to influence others. The leader always have to practice mindfulness. Small thing like way of your stand, body language may change other view or you may convey the wrong message to audience. 

Conclusion

Good leadership skills are essential to advancing your career, but as your can see, leadership is much more than simply being in-charge. As American statesman John Quincy Adams said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, your are a leader." To be great leader consistently work on improving his or her self-awareness, personal development and learning. Working on your strength and improving your weakness is most important part of personal development. Getting feedback and ask for the help when required for specialized person in the field is important. The leader have to be open minded. Good leaders are naturally curious and open to new ways of doing things. When you welcome alternative viewpoints and ideas, you foster your own growth and development while making those around you feel supported and accepted. The leadership skills are something we acquire throughout the life. The leaders are not born with skill required to be a effective leader, they may some traits but self-awareness, personal development and learning is important to be great leader.
