Can technology solve the crises of higher education?

September 25, 2019

Each year thousands of students are graduating from formal schooling and they are left with two doors to choose from, that is to continue higher education or stay at home. If we look at the government data collected in the past 10 to 20 years the number of students joining higher education has increased. Especially if compared the island communities the number of students joining the higher education has started to increase year by year.

The reason for increasing the students joining higher education is no other than increasing the use of technology in education. By using computers and the internet they students are able to study at their preferred time. They no longer have to stay away from their parents and study in other areas.

One of the problem to higher education is some of the students were not able to fund themselves. But now since they can study online or block mode they are able to do a job and study. This makes more students join higher education and complete their studies easily. There is no doubt that technology has solved many crises of higher education but there are few negative impacts of technology on higher education like the quality of the students who prefer online is lower than the face to face classes.
