      Social Studies and the Vision of the National Curriculum


               Social studies education develops right from kindergarten and into high school help students to understand their place in the world.Social studies teaches to the  children their roles and responsibilities. Particularly in relation to social and civic affairs. It helps students to improve their critical thinking ability, prepares the participate competently and productively as concerned citizens and teaches them to address social and global concerns using literature, technology and community resources.
              The primary purpose of social studies is to help young people to develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decision for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an inter-dependent world.
              Most importantly there were five parts or five components of social studies. These parts are Geography, History, Culture and Society, Civics and Government and the fifth one is Economics.
              Firstly, the geographers are interdisciplinary innovators, shaping the future of our world and the story of our species.Geography is about learning how to understand the link between disciplines, and to use those links to develop new things in the world.It helps to reach the vision by a world of interdisciplinary, geographical thinkers, who find innovate solutions to the interrelated environmental,social and technological challenges facing our planet at these centuries.
              The study of history is important because it helps us to understand people and societies. History offers the data from past people who lived in here. So, easily we can identify how they have lived and how the families and nation were formed.It helps to know about about all the things to our new generation students and youngsters. it will be also a vision of our national curriculum.
              Culture refers to characteristic patterns of attitudes,values,beliefs and behaviour shared by members of a society or population. Cultural differences will affect the receptivity of an individual to indivudal education and willingness to accept information and incorporate it into his or her lifestyles.
              Civic and Government is the pertains to the right responsibilities of citizens. Students study how people have organised  authority and exercised power from earlier civilization to present. When they study these they will be able to know how it went and will know how it have been changed.
               Economic is the study of how society uses its limited resources and also economics is a social science that deals with the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.
               Social Studies helps to achieve the vision of the national curriculum. When students learn social studies they will know lots of information about how the things were happening.
